The hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) was synthesized by radical polymerization of 1,3-butadiene, using hydrogen peroxide as initiator and isopropanol as solvent. The polymers were characterized by GPC, IR and 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR. The thermal properties and glass transition temperature (Tg) of the polymer were also evaluated. The results show that HTPB polymer contain three different structures, namely cis, trans and vinyl in its backbone. The average molecular weight (Mw) is of 2588,89 (g/mol) with polydisperse distribution is 1,86. The functionality of hydroxyl groups approaches 2. This rubber is characterized by low Tg (-78,4 oC).
