Abstract

Quantum dots (QDs) are semiconductor fluorescent nanoparticles, which can be used for food safety or environmental monitoring with high sensitivity. This work demonstrates the feasibility of detecting clenbuterol residue by nanobiosensor using CdS quantum dots as donors based on the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) effect. This sensor allows for clenbuterol determination in a linear working range of 0.1 mg/ml -1.0 pg/ml. It would provide a simple, rapid and ultra-sensitive detection method for clenbuterol analysis.
