Poly (ethylene terephthalate-co-ethylene sebacate) copolyester was synthesized in a two-stage process similar to that of polyester synthesis. During the process, especially polycondensation, has been investigated by infrared spectroscopy, which shown the formation of copolyester by the reaction between the carboxyl group and the hydroxyl group of glycol. The structure of the copolyester was also demonstrated by 1H NMR spectroscopy showed that the terephthalate/sebacate ratio in the main chain structure was equivalent to that of the precursors used. Two different catalytic systems for the synthesis of tetrabutyl titanate and Sb2O3/Zn(Ac)2 were compared showed that the catalytic efficiency of TBT was better than that of Sb2O3/Zn(Ac)2.
