Abstract

The paper introduces the results of research on the number of factors affecting the film forming process and the properties of an organic silica-based anti-fog coating on optical glass surfaces. Chemical bondings, water contact angle, thickness, and optical transmission of the coating film were thoroughly characterized by using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), contact angle and surface tension measurement, UV-2550 spectrophotometer, and some other physical methods. The obtained results show that using the brush coating method with coating condition: at room temperature and after 2 hours of dry-heat treatment, the properties of the optical material were virtually unchanged, and the coated surface has a homogeneous structure with a thickness of 0,0113 µm, a water contact angle of higher than 115o.
